Teams updates in September 2021

Teams is getting lots of good and longwaited updates this month. In this blogpost, I’ll go through them, especially the education side. Let’s dive in.

Breakoutrooms: More presenters, pre-meeting room creation and participant assigment. Those three updates are very much awaited and they’re coming this month.

Live captions and Live Transcripts in meetings are as well very much awaited updates.

Next on the list is Whiteboard, and it’s gonna have so many updates this month.

Locking content: You can lock your whiteboard, so it doesn't accidentally get deleted.

Attribution: You can now see who did what on the screen.

Couple facilitation features coming up also.

Integration with assigments: When you are creating assigments, you can give students a whiteboard

where they can collaborate with their assigments.

Web Templates: Meetings, workshops, planning. etc. You can choose your own template.

User Experience: A new fresh look of the Whiteboard.

And finally, revamp for IOS and Windows Whiteboards.

So many updates, that I should propably make a blogpost about this too. who knows.

You can have transcription of your 1:1 calls and check them later.

You can finally get rid of your email message nightmares, because you can share hose attachments etc. directly into Teams chats and meetings. This support is also coming to Android and IOS.

Also coming up is the Little switcher, where you can easily choose if you want Together mode, Focus, Gallery at top etc.

Mobile side is getting a good visual update.

If you have too many chat messages that you need to remember, the help is here. You can pin your important messages.

This is a good one. You can edit and co-author tables, action items or a lists in Teams chat simultaneously.

Now even faster replies from teachers :)

If your Live event goes to tilt mode, you can restart it with the same address.

You can add some nice waiting music, if you have to put your call on hold or transfer it to another person.

Music teachers like this: better audio quality for Teams. Up to. 32 kHz sampling rate mono audio at 128kbps.

You can stream your Teams meeting wherever you want using RTMP.

Q&A from live events are coming to normal Teams meetings. This is a long waited update.

You can see a lot more video screens if you scroll down your meeting participant list.

If you use the web version of Teams, you can now have background effects too.

Physical whiteboard and your webcam. You can have the physical whiteboard virtually in your sharing screen.

Safari is getting an update to support 2x2 video in gallery view.

In chat, you can choose which message you reply to, so that everyone can better see who is answering whose question.

If you are in a hurry, you can watch your teams meetings faster.

Transcript from the meeting is now accessible to you after the meeting.
